SUCCESS IS EASY …
with Set Goals
There are many reasons to chase after goals, and people have different reasons at different times in their lives for pursuing them. You probably dream about your goals every day. Some days you move closer to achieving the success you desire. On other days, you might focus on the reasons why your dreams might not come true. But do you ever take the time to really think about why you desire success so much in the first place?
Let’s focus on the latest success you have achieved to uncover the answer to this question. It doesn’t have to be some huge achievement. A small success will do just fine. Imagine that achieving your success is like a journey; sometimes your journey can be quite easy, and sometimes it can be more challenging. Sometimes you arrive quickly, and other times it takes a long time to get there. Now think about why you took this journey in the first place and what helped you get there.
Where did your journey begin? Can you recall your emotions and experiences in that moment? Why did you decide to set this goal in the first place? How did you get started? Can you identify what motivated you to move forward? Were there obstacles along the way? What inspired you to move those obstacles out of the way and keep going until you reached your final destination?
How did you feel when you achieved your goal? Were you truly happy or somewhat disappointed?
Identifying why you want to achieve success is very important, because it’s what will continue to motivate you to achieve future goals. Some of the reasons people are motivated to succeed include:
• Achieving goals brings up positive feelings because you know you are making positive progress.
• We love to win because achieving success is like a personal victory. Even when we fail along the way, we want to win in the end.
• Success stimulates our senses because it gives us purpose. The more challenging a goal, the stronger the feeling of success when we achieve it.
• Achievement challenges us to create bigger goals and excites us to continue to improve, both personally and professionally.
• Achieving success is often the solution to our problems. It allows more money, opportunity, and freedom to come our way.
In this chapter, you will not only discover how to achieve your goals, but you will also uncover why you want to achieve them and learn what will continue to drive you on your journey toward success.
